Checkley Lane

Last week Checkley Lane, at the Wrinehill end, was closed for two days whilst two telegraph poles were installed near to the recently planted telecoms mast, and opposite to one another. The water beside the main mast remains although it has stopped flowing.  If any one is responsible for this, they are not saying. Lately, it has turned green. A new sign just before the bend warns drivers of the likelihood of flooding.  Although the water has disappeared a great deal of thick black mud has been left behind, which could wash back into the drains when the next downpour arrives.  The water under the bridge remains since one of the drains is almost full and a brown, spongey, wet substance is flowing from one of the cleared drains on the Cheshire East side.  Some remedial work has been undertaken to repair the eroded edges of the Lane (not all but at least some!)  We live in hope.  At least it is an improvement. Technology is wonderful in these circumstances because it was possible to pause the programme for a break or for tea and toast without missing anything. Having watched a previous Coronation, I am aware of how emotional these things can be.   It is the combination of the fanfares, the music ancient and modern, the choirs, the Abbey setting and the splendour of the robes the crowns and the bejewelled trinkets heavily bestowed with symbolism, which point up   the spectacle and heighten observer   awareness of the meaning and solemnity of it all.   This particular ceremony seemed to emphasise duty and the importance of not straying from the path of truth and   right...
